Below are the U-Pick orchards and farms for flowers that we know of in this area. Not all areas of any state, nor even every state, have flowers orchards that are open to the public. If you know of any others, please tell us using the add a farm form!

Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with the farm directly before you go! If I cannot reach them, I DON'T GO!

St. Clair County

• Brown's Cut Flower Farm - Uses natural growing practices, flowers,
  530 Mountain Top Loop (located in Cook Springs), Pell City, AL 35128. Phone: 205 410-5330. Email: rhender@centurytel.net. Open: Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm, Sunday 1pm to 6pm. Directions: take I-20, to the Cook Springs Exit, number 152, if coming from the Birmingham area turn right, if coming from the Pell City area turn left, onto Cook Springs Road, follow Cook Springs Road until it ends at Highway 78, cross Highway 78 to Mountain Top Loop, at the stop sign at the top of the mountain the farm is located on the right. Cook Springs Fire Department in on the left, farm is across from the fire department. When you take the exit, if you go straight for 1 mile, you\'ve found us. . Click here for a map and directions. Crops are usually available in March, October. We use natural practices, but are not yet certified Organic. We're a 3 acre U-Pick offering over 70 varieties of flowers. If you're coming out to pick it's best to bring along a container and wear proper footwear, close-toed shoes, especially children. Flower Picking Tips, and Information

Farms that offer U-pick or pick-your-own flowers are becoming more common.

• Once picked, quickly get the stems into water
• Get them out of the hot sun after picking to increase shelf life.  Cool shade is best.
• Re-cut stems while underwater - once you get home. Making a fresh cut, while the cut end is submerged helps the stem to take up water and avoid a vapor lock.
