Looking for a local, pick-your-own farm in Capital Region (aka Hudson Valley) of New York State? Scroll down this page and you will see the U-Pick farms in Capital Region (aka Hudson Valley) of New York State,
sorted by county. Those that offer organic or sustainably grown produce are identified by the words "organic" and/or "sustainable" in Green, next to their name
(see "What does Organic mean?").
The U-pick crops they offer follow the name of the farm. To search the page for
a specific crop, use Ctrl-F (or on an ipad or Mac, use their "search on this
page" function) If they have a website, the name will be in blue and underlined;
click on it and it will open their website. If you find anything outdated or
inaccurate, see the customer and farmer menus (as appropriate) at the top menu bar to submit updates and corrections and help me keep each current!
New! As inflation remains high, see this page for cost-saving measures for
getting fruit and vegetables and home canning.
If you are having a hard time
finding canning lids, I've used these, and they're a great price & ship in 2 days.
New! Road tripping and camping is a great way to have a fun, safe and inexpensive
family trip. The national and state parks and monuments are open, and campgrounds usually cost between $10 and $40 per night. September to November is the best
camping weather. See our new website Road Tripping and Camping.com for tips, tricks,
guides, checklists and info about parks, monuments and other places to visit.
New! We just went live with our latest website,
FunFactoryTours.com - As they name implies, you can find a fun factory tour, including chocolate, automobiles, historical forts and sites, famous buildings,
Active Federal facilities even fun geology: like fossils and volcanic areas
Note: Beware the copycat websites like the one that stole
our name and uses .farm extension: they copied my work and do NOT even update
the info! I make updates EVERY day. They use tech tricks to get higher rankings,
but have many more inaccuracies and out-dated info. Obviously, I cannot check
every farm every day, but I do check as many as I can every day, and respond to
all requests. They don't. Don't support the scammers!
Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook
page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or
Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally
overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with
the farm directly before you go!
And if you know of any farms I missed and want to
add a farm, please let me know!
I'm making updates for this year as fast as I can - if you find
anything out-of-date, wrong or not working -
please let me know! This website is supported by purchases you make

Comments from a visitor on June 17, 2009: "I picked
Strawberries at the Charlton Fruit Farm with daughter yesterday. It is a
small farm, so they really like to you call ahead since they limit the
number of people. I didn't realize that, but there was no one else picking
when we got there (Tuesday afternoon), so they didn't turn us away. I would
definitely recommend it. The strawberries were delicious and the people were
very friendly."
Comments from a visitor on June 12, 2009: "I just wanted
to add a comment about the Charlton Fruit Farm. We would highly recommend
this farm to any berry/fruit pickers. It's a small farm and they limit the
number of people who can visit at once. But the quality of the fruit
(probably because all the good stuff isnt gone when you get there) is
amazing. We picked strawberries there a few days ago and we could not
believe how good they were, and how plentiful. The owners are very friendly
and accomodating also. And the best part is that they are organic so the
fruit is ready to eat right off the plants!"

Comments from a visitor on July 14, 2011: "I picked sour cherries at Hick's
Orchard last weekend and loved the farm. There is a wonderful store on site
with great prices on local honey as well as a selection of kitchen items.
The cherries were wonderful and reasonably priced at 1.60/lb. They also have
blueberries and apples in the fall. I live about an hour away and it was
worth the drive. So many of the farms closer to Albany have started charging
just to enter. I used to take my autistic son with me (he doesn't pick or
eat anything) and I now have to pay just to take him with me. I don't go
back to those places."

a 15 percent drop-off since last year ; which makes the orchard no longer

Berries, Huge Crops. I believe they have other Vegetables as well and barn
store, picking baskets. Picked the summer of 2017 and the blueberries were
outstanding.". T. Blueberries will be
available for picking here from early July until mid to late August.
Comments from a visitor on September 10, 2012:
"Winney Farm was amazing!!!!!!!!!! We went back 3 times this summer and it's
a 45 minute ride. The blueberry bushes are huge and have the best berries
ever. I was hoping to freeze most of them for winter, but my family was
plucking them from the tray as I was prepping them from the freezer. Will be
a family tradition from now on! Thank you Winney Farms "
Comments from a visitor on July 15, 2012: "I
pick at Winney's Farm each year. The current price for blueberries is $2.25
/pound and has remained the same for the last few years. They have lots of
varieties to pick so you get berries the entire blueberry season. There is
no charge to pick. This is not a farm for tourists - no hay rides, animals
to feed and pet, or food to purchase. It is a basic "pick your own" farm.
They do sell prepicked berries for $7.00/quart."

beautiful family owned farm that currently has pick your own fruit. I
believe they also have a roadside stand down the street as well. Friendly,
beautiful, local family environment. Absolutely LOVE it! I have been picking
there for the last couple of years and tell everyone I can to go there. The
berries are amazing and there are always plenty to pick. The black
raspberries (not blackberries) are unbelievable! This is just a
friendly, local family owned farm that is expanding and has great pick your
own!!! Black raspberries (that are huge and absolutely
unbelievable)"
