- Asparagus Festival in Cavallino-Treporti
- Usually held in April-May from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening, (2021 is canceled, next in 2022)
This is a celebration of the
Montine variety of asparagus, called "sparesea" in Venetian dialect. 2022 will be the 50th festival. The asparagus is grown nearby, in the land
between the sea and the northern lagoon of Venice, from the mouth of the river Sile to Punta Sabbioni. This also includes the Treporti islands,
Lio Piccolo and Mesole. The festival has asparagus dishes to eat, entertainment, exhibitions and dancing. In the main square, they also play
Palo della Cuccagna (Greasy Pole), a traditional game.
