California

  • Onion Festival - April
    Barioni Boulevard and Imperial Avenue, Imperial, CA. The festival is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 9 pm on a Saturday each April in Imperial between 7th and 9th streets centered along Barioni Boulevard and Imperial Avenue.
    That's all I know about this one.  Anyone have more information, like their website?  If so, please write me!

 

Georgia

  • Glennville Sweet Onion Festival - May
    State Farmers Market, Glennville, GA. Glennville's biggest annual event, the Glennville Sweet Onion Festival, has hosted over 34 years of events, and sunny skies have shone upon every one. The festive day on the second Saturday of each May celebrates the harvesting of the famous Vidalia sweet onion crop. The day begins with a sweet onion run and walk and a downtown parade. Then on to the State Farmers' Market on Highway 301 South for an array of arts and crafts, delightful entertainment, children's rides and games, delectable food (that includes fried sweet onion rings and blooming onions). The event draws over 6,000 people each year.  Festival Gates Open 9 am to 6 pm, $5.00 adults $3.00 children, Children under 2 FREE!, Military / Individuals FREE with military ID..

  • Vidalia Onion Festival - Late April (over 30 years)
    Multiple locations, Vidalia, GA. Phone: 912-538-8687. Email:  tourism@vidaliaga.gov. Each spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia's Official State Vegetable, the internationally known Vidalia Sweet Onion. The occasion is celebrated with an array of fun-filled activities. The festival lasts an entire weekend and normally kicks off with the opening ceremonies on Thursday night, featuring a themed children's parade and several special performances. Friday brings a fun-filled street dance, where you can eat to your heart's content. On Saturday and Sunday enjoy the arts and crafts festival or attend the air showThe Vidalia Onion Festival has been featured on The Food Network. Admission to Friday's Street Dance downtown was (in 2019) $5 ages 6-Adult; children 5 and under admitted free.   • Elba Onion Annual Festival -  Since 1937, on a Saturday in July  from 12 pm  til 8pm
    Elba Village Park. Kiddie Parade at noon, Kids tractor pull at 12:30. The festival also includes parades, food, music and a pageant competition.Firemen's parade at 4pm, followed by the crowning of the Onion Queen. Food, music, and family fun.The town of Elba, New York claims to be the "Onion Capital of the World". 
  • Pine Island's Annual Onion Festival - Usually held on a Sunday in Early September, begins at 2 pm
    Polish Legion of American Veterans Pavilion, Pine Island, NY. Phone: 845-258-1469 for more information and to sign up.  The contest is in celebration of Pine Island's 3000 acres of hearty onions that are famous throughout America.   • Texas Onion Fest - Saturday typically in late March
    Mayor Pablo Pena City Park, 300 N. Airport, Westlaco, TX. Phone: (956) 968-2102.. The Texas Onion Fest celebrates the development of the world famous Texas 1015 Onion which was developed in Weslaco. The name of the 1015 onion came from the suggested planting date, October 15. Texas Onion Fest is sponsored by the Weslaco Area Chamber of Commerce. The festivities include live entertainment on two stages, the exciting Onion Eating Contest, delicious food, commercial booths, kiddie rides, two performances by the Dancing Horses at the Charro Arena, 1015 Market, Car Show, cooking demonstrations at the Culinary Center, and so much more!     WeWeimar, Germany. The onion festival was established in 1653. This unusual and special event takes place annually in the onion market of the city of Weimar. The event attracts about 300,000 visitors every year. The event has a huge variety of onions and also beer and food counters, contests and an Onion Queen coronation. .
