2024 New Zealand Strawberry Festivals - Where, When and More Details!

New Zealand

There are two general types of strawberry festivals 1) community festivals, usually organized by a church, school, local Chamber of commerce or a town and 2). Strawberry festival held at and by a farm

They are different in what they offer, so they are grouped separately. (of course not all states and areas have both. And following the festival listings are links to our easy to follow directions about making strawberry jam, freezing strawberries, strawberry pies and much more.

Community Strawberry Festivals

  • Kapiti Coast Strawberry Festival - November
Kapiti Primary School, Rimu Road, Paraparaumu 5032. Email: hello@kapiticoaststrawberryfestival.co.nz. The Hospice Strawberry Festival has been an important fundraising and public awareness event on the Hospice's calendar with over 8,000 punnets of strawberries and 1,000 litres of ice cream consumed per year raising thousands of dollars. The annual event is now held at Kapiti Primary School - a much bigger space for us to set up 100+ stalls and activities, the main stage providing all day entertainment and demonstrations, and the Mary Potter Hospice strawberry tent - the heart of our sweet little festival.

Farm Strawberry Festivals

In addition to community and church festivals, some private farms have their own strawberry festivals in June.  See each farm for this year's dates (they often do not announce them until the end of May). They usually have PYO strawberries then, too.  Also, scroll down to see the links to recipes, freezing, canning and jam making directions at the bottom of the page.

  • We will be adding these as we find them;  Please write me, if you know of any to add!
