Why Can't I See the Pick Your Own Fruit and Vegetable Farm Listings?
[home]
About once out of every 100,000 visitors, I get an email that says: "I went to the page for my state, but
there were no farms listed there!"
The answer is usually quite simple: you have to scroll down
the page! Each page has a "header" - a top
part that has common information and links that people frequently need. Often
that header fills up the first 25 lines of the screen, and since your monitor
can only show 25 lines (more or less, depending on your monitor size,
resolution, etc.) at once, that's all you see. (I turned off the header on
this page).
BUT, the web page may be many times
larger than the size of your screen, so you must either press the page down
key (it usually says either "Page Down" or "Pg Dn" on it) or click your mouse on
the bottom right hand side of the screen where you see the down-arrow. Each
click of the down arrow advances you down the screen by one line, or you can
hold the button down to rapidly scroll. The Page Down button does 25 lines
at a time (a screen full each press). Believe me, if I could fit all the farms
for any given area in the top visible portion, I would, but since most states
have dozens of farms, that is simply not possible.
Please note that some states are so geographically big or have
so many farms that I've had to split them into multiple pages (or people would be
complaining that the pages take forever to load) so you may have to scroll down,
pick your area, and then scroll down the NEXT page to see the farm listings for
that area.
Try scrolling down this page for an example. Then click
on the BACK button near the top left of the screen to go back to the page you
were on!
It is ALSO possible that for many reasons (you are on dial-up, your ISP, your
browser, etc.) the page did not load completely; or you simply did not wait for
it to load. Try pressing the F5 key
(to reload or refresh the page).
If you're having trouble with pages loading slowly, you may
wish to upgrade to DSL or CableModem. These days You can get faster, better service
for less (eg. Earthlink,
SBC, BellSouth,
Verizon, ComCast
CableModem). These are from $14.99/month and up, for high speed
connection (and I don't get a commission from any of them)
Big County
- Joe's Farm - For example, this could have been a farm listing here,
but you would not have
seen it if you didn't scroll down the page!
Now,
press the "back" key (by the very top left portion of the screen) to return to
the page you were on before this! |
