Where in Montana to find pick your own farms and orchards for fruit, vegetables, pumpkins and canning & freezing instructions!
This month's notes: May 2013: The cool weather has delayed blooms and slowed growth by a couple of weeks, but don't miss strawberries: they started in most Southern areas in late April, and in late May up north. Click here for strawberry facts and picking tips, and this page for easy strawberry jam making directions. Blueberries will come in June in most areas. Of course, Florida, southern Texas, and other very warm areas are already picking both crops! See this page for hundreds of easy canning and freezing instructions/recipes, canning equipment guide! Also make your own ice cream - see How to make ice cream and ice cream making equipment and manuals. Then see each state's crop availability calendar for more specific dates of upcoming crops. Organic farms are identified in green! See our guide to local fruit and vegetable festivals!. Please tell the farms you found them here - and ask them to update their information!!

Comments from a visitor on May 29, 2011: "Their farm is neat and tidy. This is a working farm complete w/ gardens and livestock. Dairy goats and sheep roam their fields along w/ ducks, geese and chickens. Such nice people. So pleasant to be with that you will be reluctant to leave!! Roger and Annie are raising their crops organically. They have raised their own food and processed it for years for their own family consumption. They have a set of massive gardens that are beautiful to see. They are in the process of turning their garage into a country store to sell their homemade breads, canned goods and huge assortment of produce. This family knows gardening! They sell shares in their farm and we received our 1st box last Friday. All I can say is that I was impressed! Along w/ 7 large bags of produce, we also got a dozen fresh eggs and an apple cake! They are so kind and so willing to share of their knowledge. So many times they have taken time out of their busy day to visit w/ my family or others. They are eager to help people eat healthy foods. If you ever have questions about gardening or raising livestock, call them! I definitely recommend them to all my family and friends! "
